keeping with my personal and pointless war on instantly readable illustration, this visual pun requires knowledge in both American football penalties and Milton Bradley boardgames. HA! Take THAT Illustration!

oh yeah and go see the band.

Flyer for Demitri and Adrian Chrissos, who play a blend of grunge and acoustic. I hoped the flannel shirt would get the 90s grunge across and make it less death metal, and i think i was successful (do let me know if I'm wrong tho...).

up top is the photocopy friendly version, and down south is the original ball point pen version, complete with obnoxiously placed signature.

The Galt Line play a super awesome kind of folk-bluegrass-rockabilly-western-swing-jazz-otherstuff fusion with a ukelele, guitar and bell anklets. Originally the southern gentleman was going to be bald and shirtless, which made him look way more creepy-demonic. I decided that was too close to a high school psychobilly band kind of thing.

This super happy bee is the first of a series of fliers I'll be making for Chloe's Coffee and it's various shindigs. The world would be better if more happy bees that played ukulele existed.

Gallery Show

Beginning in August my work will be hanging in the great and powerful Chloe's Coffee in Gaithersburg, MD. Some of the show will consist of familiar pieces. One or two ancient artifacts may or may not be dug out of my closet to enchant a new audience with all of their high school amateurism. However, most of the show will be made up of brand spankin' new art fresh off the homasoak! AND to top it all off, Many pieces will be accompanied by nifty little price tags. This means YOU TOO can adopt and take home a piece of free range organic sweatshop free original framed artwork! Great googley moogley! This is pretty much my first show of any kind ever, so hounestly i'm pretty stoaked. This is me making a stoaked face. you can't see it but i assure you it's awesome.

The Art will mysteriously appear overnight at Chloe's and be greeting coffee drinkers and cool kids come the morning of Monday, August 9th. An Opening reception will follow on Thursday, August 12, and will feature Croatian belly dancers and an alcoholic clown. The show lasts the rest of the month and into early September, by which point the novelty will wear off and Chloe's patrons and staff will actually begin to feel disturbed by the presence of the paintings. Granted they are in fact sentiant beings that have a tendency to watch and silently mock all who pass them, though I'll be damned if it's my fault they turned out so crass. I raised them the best i could...

By the way, Chloe's is just about the most awesome coffee shop around, and not just because they're letting me have a show. Definitely check them out if you're in the area, or just make a pilgrimage if you are long distance. Trust me It's worth the cost of gas. There's a good chance I'll be there when you arrive.

Gluhwein

as our Christmas present to my fairly massive extended family, my immediate family has given the gift of Gluhwein, a lovely German traditional beverage, for about two years. last year as my contribution I designed a front and back label to go on the bottles we gave as gifts. This is one of my first serious attempts at anything remotely graphic design, so I''m sure its substandard in some way my puny illustrator mind cannot grasp...
Arrakis

this piece is based of of the Black Sun Empire song of the same name. I'm planning on making a version of the image and using it for my new business card. watercolor on paper.
